This week we were proud to complete our first ever summer Eco-Camp, Elemental Awareness. Led by our good friends Todd and Clay from Elemental Awareness, campers learned basic survival skills as well as everyday ways to make a difference in their environment. Highlights included fire 101 and safety, coal burned spoons and making gourd bowls. On the last day, campers participated in our Farm to Fork experience where they took a tour of South Coast Farms, harvested veggies from The Ecology Center garden and prepared a healthy lunch.

Every summer, EA sends eligible kids up to Element YMCA skate camp for a life-changing experience in the mountains. This past summer, we captured scholarship recipients, Lamont Holt and Rene Serrano’s journey through camp. It is incredible what these kids have to say about this experience. Check out the video from this unforgettable week.
