WINDOW ROCK, AZ – SECOND STOP OF THE ELEMENTAL AWARENESS SOUTHWEST TOUR

Sunday, 17. January 2010

.The second stop of the Southwest Tour was in Window Rock, AZ. The event was held at the Raymond Nakai Hall where skaters showed up hours before the event to practice. Within a few hours the EA team and local skaters transformed the hall into a full blown skate plaza decorated with boxes, ramps, and rails. While the contest progressed Element Advocate Mike Kershnar worked with Window Rock locals to create graffiti art. Following the awards ceremony, there was a “worst board contest”,  giving skaters a chance to replace their old board with a new one. Overall the contest was a hit for the town and EA. Special thanks to Gino and Molly Antonio for making the event possible. Click here to see more photos from the event.

Just wanted to say how great it was to see Element representing in the southwest and especially on the reservation! If only more of us knew what a pure joy it is to ride and fall off a skateboard this world would be a not-so-bad place. Here on the reservations, such gifts are hard to come by but easy enough to find if you know where to look. So here’s to getting back to all our roots and sharing a big thanks for coming out and living it up for us all to remember.
